For the safety of our dancers & the community,

all classes take place outdoors to allow for social distancing and are in compliance with all local & CDC COVID-19 recommendations and guidelines!

Class description: Entry/beginning level Irish dance class where participants will learn fundamental Irish dance technique, choreography, and how to count the different types of Irish music. Along the way, dancers will develop and improve flexibility, stamina, make friends, and build confidence! Taught by Victoria Dunlap of the Dunlap Academy of Irish Dance – a former championship level Irish dancer, who has traveled the world competing and dancing under some of the biggest names in Irish dance.

About the Instructor

Victoria has been Irish dancing for over 16 years and has competed all over the United States and internationally in cities such as Vancouver, Montreal, Salzburg, and Moscow. She has trained with the McGrath Morgan Academy of Irish Dance in Northern Virginia and Tir na Nog School of Irish dance in Moscow, Russia, which was featured in the Irish dance documentary, Jig. She has received instruction from some of the top dancers in the world and biggest names in Irish dance, including Lauren McGrath-Dutton, John Morgan, and Shane McAvinchey. Victoria has been independently teaching Irish dance since 2014 and has experience training dancers from the beginner to World Championship levels. She established the New River Irish Dance studio in Blacksburg, Virginia in August of 2017 and has since moved to California to attend the Middlebury Institute of International Studies for the Conference Interpretation program, working between English and Russian.
